Doc Holliday was born John Henry Holliday in August 14, 1851. He was trained as a dentist in Pennsylvania and graduated at the age of 21. Soon after graduating he found that he had tuberculosis which had killed his mother when he was 15, his baby sister and his adopted brother. He moved to the Southwestern United States hoping that the dry desert air would help his health.
His career as a dentist was doomed by his obvious disease and he turned to gambling to pay his bills, he was arrested in Dallas for illegal gambling and moved onwards from there to Fort Griffin, Texas.
He met Mary Katharine “Big Nose Kate” Horony, the Big Nose Kate from my novel in 1878 in Fort Griffin Texas. In 1878 they moved to Dodge City together where Doc Holliday became friends with Wyatt Earp. He tried to establish a dental practice in many towns but his cough would drive away the clients. After a time in Las Vegas in 1880 they would join Wyatt and his family in Tombstone, Arizona.
This is where my story begins.
